The 'Beast' in the heading is my computer! I've been having mega problems with it since returning from our wonderful holiday in Peru! It's been back to the technician 3 times now - the third time to a new person, who has turned out to be a real find. So, I'm now back in the thick of it and have started being a little creative.
Our trip to Machu Picchu was truly magical - an early 40th anniversary and (for me) 60th birthday present. It was all just perfect. Location, hotels, people, organisation, food, weather etc etc. We just didn't want to come home! Alas, all good things come to an end......................
Here's a picture of Martin and I at MP, just to prove we were really there!
Would love to go back, as sadly we didn't have enough time to see and do all that we wanted. Time - there just is never enough of it, is there??
But to my latest creations, here are a couple of things I've been working on lately:
This is a notebook case I made for a friend - who is heavily into pink and lime green - for her birthday. I was rather pleased with the way it turned out.
Next, here is a Temari design that I have done several times. Everyone likes this one and I have a hard time hanging on to it. Maybe I'll get to keep this one:
And yesterday I went to a beading class and made a lovely butterfly pendant - I liked it so much I made another one when I got home. The first one is in white with blue seed beads and pretty AB cubes for the 'tails', the second is in white AB and mauve seeds with amethyst Swarovski crystals in the tails. These will be useful for Christmas presents - all I need to do is to make some pretty chains to go with them.
I've also been working on a mosaic which my friend Kate Madeloso designed for me when she was visiting earlier in the year. Here is a part of it, showing a batfish, a regal tang and a moorish idol. What do you think so far Kate?
I have also finished the rainbow runner and am halfway through the butterfly fish. Only one more fish to do and then it's on to the ocean!
Last, but not least, one of my birthday presents (last week) was wrapped in the most gorgeous handmade paper. I was almost more excited about the paper than the gift! Only joking, the gift was lovely and just what I wanted. Anyway, I just had to do something with the paper, so I made this:
Aren't those colours just to die for?
First, I machine stitched around the flower motifs, then added lots of beads for the two large flowers. Then I just did a little hand stitching and added a few more beads here and there. The colours aren't quite as they appear here, the darker reds are more of a chestnut colour and the rest of the red is more of a deep pink.
Beautiful - thank you Bernie. For the gifrt AND the wrapping!
I just LOVE the mosaic.
